Cervical spinal stenosis- Narrowing of spine
Cervical Spondylitis: Is a form of chronic progressive arthritis that affects spine causes inflammation of spine bones. If the spondylitis occurs in neck, it is called cervical spondylitis or neck arthritis. Most common cause of spondylitis is genetics, due to variations in genes necessary for immune defense. As this is a progressive disease, if left untreated causes severe discomfort and limited flexibility.
Herniated disc: In between the bones of spine are spinal discs. If the inner disc material leaks out and comes in contact with nerve root it causes pressure on the nerve causing pain. The pain may radiate along the arm to the fingertips. Along with the pain, numbness and tingling can be present.
Cervical Degenerative disc disease:
Like in herniated disc, the pain radiates from neck to the arm but the cause is due to wear and tear of spinal discs. When the gel material in the discs dehydrates, cushion between the bones in the spine rub against each resulting in wear and tear. Dehydration of gel material is usually an aging process however some people are at more risk of developing degenerative disk due to genetics.
Cervical stenosis:
Narrowing of spinal canal in the neck due to degeneration or injury. This narrowing of spaces puts pressure on nerves and may cause nerve damage. If left untreated might lead to neuro problems like loss of sensation, loss of bladder control, muscle weakness.
